In my work for television series, and more specifically when making titles, there is a lot of sequential naming and renaming. Most of the time, I name my output files the same as my scenefiles, to make sure that I can find the right scenefile when a correction or alteration is needed.
Wouldn't it be fantastic when Cinema 4D render settings had a shortcut for that?
My proposal: use wildcards!
For instance, this output path:
Harddisk/Folder/Renders/*
means that it should take my scene file's name (replacing the .c4d by the right extension)
That would make versioning less pain in the ass.
C4d R17's Render Tokens seem to solve this in a very sophisticated way.
